Cancer survivors, caregivers sought for fun-filled dinner May 23

Cancer survivors and caregivers are sought to take part in a special dinner on Thursday, May 23 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. The dinner, designed to prompt awareness, participation and educate individuals about ways to help fight the disease, takes place as organizers are gearing up for the June 1-2 Relay For Life event at Saddleback College.

Blood

City to host Blood Drive June 7

The public is invited to donate blood for the American Red Cross during the City’s blood drive on Friday, June 7. The blood drive is from noon to 6 p.m. in City Hall’s Saddleback Room at 200 Civic Center. Participants will receive a coupon for Wahoo’s and two tickets for the LA Galaxy. The need for blood is constant and the public’s contribution is important for a healthy and reliable blood supply, according to the Red Cross.

Relay Footprint

Make a donation for a footprint today

The City of Mission Viejo is selling footprint-shaped cards for a buck at the Sierra, Montanoso, and Felipe recreation centers as well as the Marguerite Tennis Pavilion, library, Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center and other locations through May 31. The footprints, which can be etched with names, will be placed on fences during the Relay For Life event June 1-2 at Saddleback College.

Mulan  

‘Mulan’ is May’s Movie of Character

The public is invited to enjoy the animated Disney classic film, “Mulan” on Sunday, May 19 at Mission Viejo City Hall. The G- rated film, which airs at 2 p.m., is sponsored by the City’s Community of Character Committee. The movie coincides with May’s character trait of “moral courage.”

Three-month recreation, fitness and tennis passes available starting May 24

If you want to get in shape for the summer, try a new sport or have resolved to be fit, purchase the City’s non-refundable 3-month pass to its Recreation, Fitness and Tennis Centers that’s available beginning May 24. You can opt for the 3-month Recreation Center summer pass, which is valid for the Montanoso and Sierra Recreation and Fitness Centers, or the 3-month Tennis Center summer pass that will give you access to the Marguerite and Felipe Tennis Centers.

Commission approves plan for high-end car dealerships on Marguerite

The Planning and Transportation Commission on Monday approved a plan that will pave the way for future luxury auto dealers – Fiat, Maserati, and Alpha Romeo, “The Italian Collection” – on Marguerite Parkway. Construction is expected to begin in August, and the dealerships could open by Christmas.
