The City Council on July 6 will continue discussing the City Manager’s proposed 2009-11 operating and capital budget that spans the next two fiscal years. Mission Viejo’s credit rating has been upgraded, thanks to its solid financial position and proactive fiscal management, which has resulted in the City’s balanced budget.

The City’s rating upgrade reflects its historically strong financial position – with discretionary reserves representing about 50 percent of revenue – low debt burden and prudent fiscal policies. More information...

The City is accepting applications for its Community Services Funding Program.  Funds are available for nonprofit organizations serving Mission Viejo residents.

Organizations must submit an application by 5 p.m. Sept. 1 to the Recreation and Community Services Department at 200 Civic Center, Mission Viejo, CA  92691.  More information...

The City is taking reservations for its free Teen Preparedness 2009 Academy that begins July 14. The academy provides community outreach to educate teens in emergency preparedness. 

The academy, which is similar to the City’s Community Emergency Preparedness Academy, is designed to teach 14- to 18-year-old residents the basic skills necessary to save lives and protect property when emergency services are not immediately available in the aftermath of a major disaster.  More information...
