Monica will be speaking at a Children's Story Time from 2:00-3:00 pm in the Juniper Room
Monica Gunning left Jamaica, her island home, to work and further her studies in the United States which wasn’t possible to do on the island.
She graduated from City University in New York City and taught with the Los Angeles Unified School System for 23 years. Later, because of her love of children’s literature, she embarked on a second career…writing books for children which has become her true passion.
She has published six children’s books, three books are of poetry and three books are works of fiction. The titles include: Not a Copper Penny in Me House, Under the Breadfruit Tree – Island Poems: America, My New Home: poems about coming to America and A Shelter in our Car.
