REVIEW THE SHERIFF'S BLOTTER
The Sheriff's Blotter enables residents to know daily what activity is occurring in their communities by time, type of call and location. 7 day and 30 day views are available.
The data is taken from the official calls for service records kept by the Orange County Sheriff's Department. It is a comprehensive list excluding only those calls where the release of the information could cause harm to an individual or where the release of the information would jeopardize the investigation of a criminal case.
REVIEW CRIME STATISTICS:
This feature allows the user to search crime by area, which includes city or street. Residents can also review crime statistics to compare crime type frequencies against last year as well as year-to-date totals.

Crime Prevention Programs
The City is committed to its crime fighting strategy, as well as maintaining an atmosphere of community. There are several crime prevention programs available to residents and business in the City. Police Services encourages you to participate in these programs and to aid us in our endeavor to preserve the quality of life in Mission Viejo. These programs include:
| Neighborhood Watch : |
An interactive program between Law Enforcement and residents designed to teach crime prevention and victim awareness. Emergency Preparedness is an essential component as well. |
| Business Watch: |
An information and awareness program, similar to Neighborhood Watch, formulated to business crimes and issues. |
| Security Inspections : |
A service, provided free of charge, to assist Residents and Businesses in identifying areas vulnerable to intrusion and an easy target for criminals. A walk-through, on-site inspection is performed with you and a written evaluation is provided for you as a reference. |
| Vacation Home Checks : |
A service, provided free of charge, which involves a physical check of your residence to ensure no windows or doors have opened or tampered with. This service is performed by Mission Viejo Police Services' Senior Citizen Activity Team, a volunteer group of retired persons. |
| Guest Speakers : |
Experienced police personnel are available for presentations on crime-related topics including personal safety, burglary, shoplifting, robbery, fraud, employee theft, Neighborhood and Business Watch, gangs, and work-place violence. |
| Get Involved: |
- Senior Community Activity Team is a volunteer group of retired persons providing assistance with the vacation home checks, child fingerprinting, various law enforcement support duties. Applications are being accepted at this time.

| Emergency Preparedness : |
Make Preparedness Your Mission!
After a disaster…such as fire, earthquake, terrorism, flooding, or excessive heat…Sheriff, Fire, Paramedics and other City emergency service personnel may have “global” responsibilities and might not be able to respond to “individual” needs.
Therefore, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Mission Viejo strongly encourages residents to make preparations NOW. Neighborhood Watch is a good mechanism for such organization. Assess your family’s preparedness and get started in your own home. Talk to your neighbors about the importance of pre-planning and training.
