The Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center has always enjoyed its reputation as a most active intergenerational center. Enhanced activity by all ages will be evident here during the winter months. The center will be buzzing with activities for young and old. Drop in to meet new friends, get fit socially and physically. Surrounded by beautiful Oso Viejo Park, the facility is also available for private rental during evening and weekend hours, offering inside, patio and additional use.

A variety of activities are available for older adults offering opportunities for sociability, service and volunteer involvement. Surrounded by beautiful Oso Viejo Park, this facility is available for private rentals during evenings and weekend hours offering inside, patio and park use. Click here for rental information. Giving Back to the Community

One of the enjoyable aspects of retirement is having time to socialize and offer service/talent to the community. The 150-200 active volunteers at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center enjoy each other, serve program needs, and assist other organizations through special projects.

Register for an opportunity to Volunteer. Please call (949) 470-3036 to request volunteer project help. Also, please consider some of the following volunteer opportunities:

  • Serving senior meals
  • Delivering meals to the homebound
  • Leading/playing cards or games
  • Office/computer/record keeping
  • Making/answering phone calls
  • Teaching a class/workshop
  • Entertaining
  • Working with kids
  • Making crafts/decorations
  • Joining our community service projects

Know Your Senior Center for First Time Visitors - Newcomers Orientation  

On behalf of the City of Mission Viejo Recreation and Community Services Department, we would like to welcome you to the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center! To better familiarize you with our beautiful facility, programs, and services, you are cordially invited to be our guest(s) at the next Newcomers Orientation. At this orientation, personally hosted by a member of the Senior Citizens Activity Committee, you will be provided a guided facility tour, receive a Newcomers Information Packet, and enjoy a complimentary hot lunch. Call (949) 470-3062 for reservations.

Know the Leaders Serving You  

The Senior Citizens Activities Committee receives input from the community regarding senior citizen programs, needs, or services. The Committee also provides information and recommendations regarding facility needs at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. A member must be 55+ years of age to serve and is appointed by an advisory vote of the Community Services Commission. You are welcome to attend the meeting of the Senior Citizens Activities Committee which is held on the 4th Wednesday of each month.
