Featuring Street Painting, Live Entertainment and Outdoor Art Studios and Arts and Craft Vendors, celebrating the 1950s

Mission Viejo celebrates an investment in the arts, economy, environment, education and a healthy civic life. The6th year of this 10-year journey will focus on the arts relevant to the 1950s. This timeline showcases different art mediums such as printmaking, photography, painting, ceramics, and sustainable environmental art.

This year the community will showcase special talents of the great animators of the 20th century. With a special appearance of feature film and TV Animation Director, Steve Hickner, of DreamWorks Studios.

Special guest artists will demonstrate the technique of “Italian Madonnari Street Painting”. Historically these artists would arrive in towns and cities to paint pictures directly on the earth or paved public squares, using chalk, brick, charcoal, and colored stones as their medium.

The event will include a progression of “Outdoor Studios” offering hands on creative activities for education, interaction, volunteering and everything art. The festival will provide a large-scale community project as well as an opportunity to learn, participate and expand one’s mind into the world of art. Parking will be limited onsite and shuttles will provide transportation to participants from City Hall.

Special evening free concert will feature the Amazing Platters and the Magic Moments Tribute to the Drifters at 7:00 pm.  Food and wine available for purchase.
