Volunteers sought to help care for homeless pets at Animal Services Center

If you have a passion for pets and a penchant for giving back, consider volunteering at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center. That’s right, our shelter is seeking compassionate volunteers to help walk dogs and care for the cats and rabbits.

While volunteering at the center can be extremely rewarding, the job can also be physically demanding. The following is a brief description of what's required:

Volunteers must be at least 18 or older.

Submit an application and attend orientation and training sessions before volunteering.

Get a tetanus shot or provide proof of shot within 30 days.

Must work one 3-hour shift per week on a specified day and time and commit to the program for at least a year.

Dog walkers must be physically able to walk an untrained 80-pound dog

Cat-care volunteers must be able to handle a cat that can weigh up to 20 pounds.

Must be willing to help with cleaning cages, changing litter pans, socializing and cleaning up after the animals as well as assisting the public.

To fill out a volunteer application, drop by the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center at 28095 Hillcrest or call 949-470-3045 for more information.
