Lance Maclean   

Lance MacLean, a native Southern Californian, was elected to serve on the Mission Viejo City Council in November 2002 and was re-elected to a second term in 2006. He was the Mayor Pro Tempore in 2005 and the Mayor in 2006. A resident of Orange County since 1982, he and his family moved to Mission Viejo in 1993 for the neighborhood parks, youth sports, good schools, and low crime rate.

Current Membership Information With a deep sense of community, Lance has a long record of public service. Lance currently serves as the City’s representative for the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency (TCA) Board of Directors (where he is the Chairman and representative on the Financial ad hoc, Cinco Cities and Legislative ad hoc TCA committees). He has served as an alternate representative to the OCFA (Orange County Fire Authority) Board of Directors as well as Mission Viejo’s representative to the Orange County Council of Governments. Lance currently sits on the City Council’s Ad Hoc Committee for Affordable Housing issues. In prior years, Lance has served on Ad Hoc Committees on issues including, the Construction and Demolition Ordinance, YMCA facility-related issues, as well as the Ad Hoc Facility Joint Use Committee with both the Saddleback Valley and Capistrano Unified school districts.
Previously Held Positions Lance has been active in the community serving as a member of the Saddleback College Foundation Board of Directors, Delegate to the Lake Mission Viejo Association and Member of the Mission Viejo Activities Committee. He has served as a Member of the Board of Directors for the Mission Viejo Swim & Racquet Club homeowners association and was a volunteer coach for MVYB and NJB basketball as well as a coach/referee for AYSO soccer.
Background Lance is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine where he received Bachelor's degrees in both Economics and Political Science. He completed his Master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University Long Beach where he earned a 4.0 grade point average and was inducted as a member of the academic honor society Pi Alpha Alpha.

Lance is a strong conservative leader with experience and integrity who recognizes the community qualities that make Mission Viejo such a desirable place to live and work. He believes that the public interest relies on the personal integrity of those elected to office. He is committed to serving the residents interests by protecting and promoting our family oriented quality of life. He supports fiscal responsibility while ensuring that essential city services and programs are provided in order to strengthen and beautify our community.
