Council Member Greg Raths
Greg Raths was elected to serve as a member of the Mission Viejo City Council in November 2014. He currently serves as a Council Member for 2016. Greg is a longtime Mission Viejo resident and homeowner. He came to California and Mission Viejo in 1978 as a young First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, where he was assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at the Marine Corps Air Station in El Toro. Greg is a decorated combat fighter pilot of Operation Desert Storm and went on to command a Marine F/A-18 Hornet squadron and Marine Aircraft Group. He served three years as Chief of Staff and Chief Financial Officer of the White House Military Office. He retired from military service in 2004 at the rank of colonel after 30 years of active duty.
After military service, Greg flew as a commercial airline pilot with Jet Blue Airways and later went into business as president of an automobile parts distribution firm. He is also a publisher and author.
Greg is married to his wife, Luci. They have three children – Michael, and twin daughters, Kristen and Kathryn, and two granddaughters, Julia and Katelyn.

Council Member Raths serves as the City's representative for Capistrano Unified School District's Ad Hoc Committee and is also the City's representative for the Standing Economic Development's Ad Hoc Committee.
Previously Held Positions
Greg Raths served as Mayor Pro Tem in 2015. He served in 2015 as the City's representative for the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency (F/ETCA), the Southern California Association of Governments, and the Southern OC Watershed Management Area Executive Committee. In 2015, he also served as the alternate City's representative for the League of California Cities, the Association of California Cities of Orange County, and the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor Agency (SJHTCA).
