The City of Mission Viejo is celebrating Earth Day and Arbor Day by offering volunteer opportunities to plant new landscaping on Avery Parkway.  A Green Expo will be held in Coronado Park with free hotdogs and ice cream for participants (while supplies last).

If you are interested in volunteering for Earth Day/Arbor Day, please fill out the 2014 Earth Day/Arbor Day Volunteer Form and Waiver and submit to Denise Matson, 200 Civic Center, Mission Viejo 92691, or by fax 949-581-5394.

The Orange County Stormwater Program, also known as H2OC, has developed a new website at www.OverwateringIsOut.org in collaboration with the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC), MWDOC member agencies, and the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) where residents can:

  • Find information related to irrigation system rebates
  • Find landscape-related events taking place throughout Orange County
  • Sign up to receive monthly email tips on how to be water smart
  • Get tips from the blog with simple, easy-to-follow steps to a dryer sidewalk and a healthier yard
