Kiwanis Club of Mission Viejo enhances elementary music programs

The Kiwanis Club of Mission Viejo has expanded its service in the community by donating $5,000 to the music programs at local elementary schools.

On Monday, the club presented two $2,500 checks to the music directors at Capistrano Unified School District and Saddleback Valley Unified School District. The money was raised from the club’s holiday See’s Candies fundraiser.

Allison Couch of Saddleback Valley Unified School District said the district will use the donation to repair and replace instruments in the 4th through 6th grade music programs.

Capistrano Unified School District’s Neil Anderson will use the $2,500 to purchase violins for the 4th grade music programs.

“Funds raised by the club are given back to the community to enhance the education of children,” said Kiwanis member Stephanie Tanton.  “Giving local support and volunteer service is the objective of the Kiwanis Club of Mission Viejo.”
