Olympians, Bubble Balls, Obstacle Courses and FUN on tap Saturday, April 7

Ushering in a new chapter of Mission Viejo’s swimming and diving legacy, the City will celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of the Marguerite Aquatics Complex from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7.

The event will feature a cornucopia of activities including Olympians Greg Louganis, Rowdy Gaines and our own Brian Goodell. Opening ceremonies start at 10 a.m.

Just after opening ceremonies at 11:15 a.m., the Olympians will be on hand at the “Activity Pool” for photos and to sign autographs until noon. Beginning at 12:30 p.m., residents can enjoy recreational swimming, games and the chance to walk on water in bubble balls.

A dive show and diving technique demonstration takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. followed by open dive time from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the “Dive Well.”

Activities at the 50-meter pool include the swim test (required for all water activities) and recreational swimming from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Swimmers can also test their agility in the obstacle course competition between noon and 2 p.m. In addition, families will enjoy crafts and games like Olympic torch making and an Olympic ring toss.

Entry to the event is FREE with food trucks providing delectable fare for purchase.

Guest parking will be provided at Trabuco Hills High School, 27501 Mustang Run, with FREE shuttles to the event (no parking on site).
