On The Radio 3 - Master Chorale of Saddleback Valley
Our third On the Radio concert is planned for Sunday at 3:00 p.m. on March 22nd at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center in Mission Viejo. We remember the 1960's as a decade of discontent with voices crying out for peace, love and harmony. Our look back at the 1960's will include Aquarius and Let the Sunshine In from the hippie counterculture musical, Hair. Simon and Garfunkel topped the charts in 1964 with their recording of Sounds of Silence, describing the consequences of people not speaking up for what they believe. Anyone who lived through the 1960's will remember the Beatles' 1964 hit, Can't Buy Me Love, which expressed the need for love in our lives.
The 1970's decade is remembered for disco music, psychedelic sights and sounds and a general feel-good attitude. On the Radio 3 music from the 1970's will include Burning Love(Elvis Presley's 1972 hit), Jolene(written and recorded by Dolly Parton in1973) and Y.M.C.A.(recorded in 1978 by the Village People). The music of Led Zeppelin, Louis Armstrong and Crosby, Stills and Nash will also be featured on this journey back through the 1970's.
