Stop Human Trafficking through Education and Action
Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 30 for an important presentation dubbed “Stop Human Trafficking through Education and Action.”
Sponsored by the American Association of University Women Mission Viejo/Saddleback Valley; Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce; and the City, the free program is from 9 am to noon at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.
Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Every year, millions of men, women and children are trafficked worldwide. You will learn about preventing human trafficking in the region and what you can do to help victims.
The program will feature experts including Kathie Perino of the Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative of Saddleback Church; Ruthi Hanchett, who served on the United Nations NGO Advisory Council on the violence against children; and Dr. Sandra Morgan, Director of the Global Center for Women and Justice. A member of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department will also provide information about this alarming issue.
