The City Council on Tuesday recognized the Little League Challenger team, members of the City’s adopted Marines and approved the purchase of Mission Viejo’s first electronic vehicle (EV) fleet truck.

The City recently posted an MVTV News report about the Little League District 68 Challenge team’s once-in-a-lifetime experience traveling to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to compete in the 2024 Challenger Division Exhibition Game. Since 2001, the Little League Challenger Exhibition Game has been a memorable part of the Championship Weekend experience at the Little League Baseball World Series. In honor of the Mission Viejo team’s wonderful achievement, the players and coaches were recognized by the Council.

Following that recognition, two members of the City’s adopted Headquarters Battalion of the 1st Marine Division were feted for their outstanding efforts. Lance Corporal Andrew T. Dodd was recognized as “Marine of the Quarter” and Sergeant Ysabel A. Bautista as "Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter."

During the final presentation of the meeting, associates from Townsend Public Affairs gave a detailed overview of federal and state legislation that may impact Mission Viejo.

In other news, the Council voted to purchase an EV fleet truck for the Public Services department. This will be the first EV maintenance pickup truck added to the City’s fleet. EVs have zero tailpipe emissions and can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which can improve local air quality.

The City Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Meetings are streamed live on the City’s website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
