Current Initiatives

  • Implement the Tyler EnerGov Land Management System.
  • Implement additional risk controls based on the City’s cybersecurity road map.
  • Refresh the City’s technology disaster recovery strategy and implement a cloud-based DR solution.
  • Replace end-of-life network switches and routers.
  • Upgrade the MV Life app for the latest Apple and Google operating systems and enhance features.
  • Replace all desktop/laptop hardware and upgrade to Windows 11.
  • Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments through an external partner.
  • Conduct cybersecurity awareness training for all technology users.
  • Refresh and update technology and security policies.
  • Expand the City’s fiber network by adding several new segments, which provide both redundancy and expanded services to new areas. Evaluate citywide fiber solutions from vendors.
  • Continue to evaluate benefits of migrating City systems to the Cloud and initiate the move where beneficial to the City.
  • Continue to maintain the City network infrastructure to minimize downtime and to maintain high levels of operation and security.  
  • Repair, install, and document various segments of the City’s fiber network.
  • Refresh audio visual systems at the Norman P. Murray Community & Senior Center.

  • Implemented industry leading Security Service Edge (SSE) cybersecurity solution.
  • Automated patron counting technology installed at main entrance of Library.
  • Expanded WiFi at the Animal Services center to the cattery.
  • Refreshed server hardware in virtual environment.
  • Moved colocation disaster-recovery site to a brand new datacenter.
  • Conduct an exercise to test Incident Response Plan (IRP).
  • Migrated the City’s on-premise VoIP phone system to the Cloud.
  • Replaced endpoint protection suite with industry leading solution.
  • Conducted a ransomware readiness assessment.
  • Completed development of a website to provide information about the Civic Core Area Vision Plan: https://envisionmv.com.
  • Updated the cyber Incident Response Plan.
  • Migrated email, files sharing, web meetings and collaboration to Microsoft 365.
  • Upgraded City Hall’s cabling to CAT6a.
  • Installed video surveillance at City facilities.
  • Added redundancy for the Mobile Device Management System in the DR colocation.
  • Upgraded the bandwidth and agreements of the City’s leased circuits for internet and other site to site communication.
  • Implement Verizon Reveal GPS Integration with HLP Chameleon Mapping for Animal Services.
  • Upgrade the City’s financial system to current version. 
  • Researched and implemented replacement of Information Technology Department’s Helpdesk system.
  • Updated the City’s MV Life app and released to Apple and Google stores.
  • Conducted technology assessment for an updated Strategic Technology and Smart City Plan.
  • Completed RFP for new Land Management Software Solutions (LMS).
  • Upgraded the City’s virtual environment to the latest version of VMWare.
  • Completed development of a new Sports Tourism website -https://MissionViejoSports.com.
  • Completed the upgrade of Internet circuit at the City’s golf course.
  • Installed Free Wi-Fi at City’s golf course clubhouse and surrounding areas.
  • Completed development of a website for City’s golf course – https://OsoCreekGolf.com.
  • Developed and implemented upgrades to the City’s website improving search and updating branding.
  • Purchased and implemented the software to manage digital signature and workflow of contracts and agreement management.
  • Implemented a new enterprise storage system.
  • Upgraded building access control and security system for two City facilities.
  • Implemented remote workforce systems and security for all users.
  • Implemented multi-factor authentication system.
  • Upgraded several Uninterruptable Power Supply units across the City’s network.
  • Digitized the paper maps and records of the City’s 35+ miles of fiber network into a geographic information systems (GIS) layer which makes it viewable electronically in a GIS program and available to all City departments.
  • Purchased a replacement storage system.
  • Upgraded the City’s aerial imagery for the GIS system.
  • Replaced City’s Email security system.
  • Added additional wide-format printing resources at Community Center and City Hall buildings.
  • Designed and implement a new network connecting Felipe Tennis Center via fiber to the City’s network.
  • Implemented indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi, video surveillance and other technology needs for staff and members including audio/visual setup in training room, wireless access, and recreation software system access.  
  • Developed and implement network and technology resources for Marguerite Aquatics Center. Swim race timing system, scoreboards, Wi-Fi for large events.

  • Developed Smartphone App for iOS and Android for things to do and experience in Mission Viejo.
  • Upgraded Council Chamber and MVTV audio/video systems.
