Enjoy a free screening Sunday, May 22 of “Chariots of Fire” as part of the Character Films series sponsored by the City’s Community of Character Committee.

Starting at 1:15 pm in the Mission Viejo Council Chamber, the PG-rated film demonstrates “moral courage,” Mission Viejo’s character trait for the month of May.

“Chariots of Fire” was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won four including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Original Score. The film is based on the true story of two British athletes in the 1924 Olympic Games – Eric Liddell, a devout Scottish Christian who ran for the glory of God, and Harold Abrahams who ran to overcome prejudice. “Chariots of Fire” is a film about achieving victory through self-sacrifice and moral courage.

After the film presentation, a brief discussion will take place about the movie and meaning of moral courage.

The film will be shown on a theater-size screen with theater-style seating and surround sound at 200 Civic Center Drive. For more information about this free event, call 949-470-8436.
