In honor of Bike Safety Month, the City of Mission Viejo is excited to announce the installation of a temporary pumptrack. The track will be located along the Oso Creek Trail just below the Norman P. Murray Community Center's playground in the Celebration Garden next to the bridge.

A pumptrack is a closed circuit track consisting of rollers, banked turns, and other features that allow riders to use their momentum to propel themselves forward. It's a fun and challenging way to practice bike skills and improve fitness.

The fun and interactive Bike-X24 returns to Mission Viejo on Friday, May 10 at the North Paseo at LOS OSOS.

Hosted by the City and Mission Viejo Police Services, the fun takes place from 3:30 to 6:30 pm at 25282 Marguerite Parkway.

Captain Jason Ivins has been named the City of Mission Viejo’s new Chief of Police Services. He began his new post today.

“I am looking forward to bringing my experience and diverse law enforcement background to the City of Mission Viejo to continue providing exceptional service to the community,” Captain Ivins said.

Captain Ivins fills the position last held by Captain Chris McDonald who is now part of the Sheriff’s Department’s newly created Operations Support and Intelligence Division in Tustin.

The City of Mission Viejo and Orange County Sheriff’s Department will host the 36th Annual Walk Against Drugs from 8 am to noon on Saturday, October 19.

The event kicks off at 8 am with a rally at Mission Viejo High School (25025 Chrisanta Drive) with this year's keynote speaker (to be announced at a later date).

After the rally, participants will walk together up La Paz Road through the Oso Creek Trail and end at the Village Green at Oso Viejo Community Park (24932 Veterans Way).
