The City of Mission Viejo and Orange County Sheriff’s Department will host the 33rd Annual Walk Against Drugs from 8 am to noon on Saturday, October 16.

In a shift from past walks, this year’s event starts at the southernmost stretch of the Village Green - in front of the Norman P. Murray Community Center - and follows a designated path through the Oso Creek Trail. The walk ends at its original starting point on the Village Green.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department will conduct a DUI/Driver's License Checkpoint on Friday, April 23 from 7 pm to 3 am at an undisclosed location in Mission Viejo.

DUI checkpoints are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests. Deputies will look for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment and will check for proper licensing.

Deputy Cody Eliason has been named Mission Viejo Police Services' Employee of the Year. The deputy's outstanding work ethic has gained him the respect of his peers and supervisors alike.  

Catalytic converter thefts are on the rise statewide. Mission Viejo Police Services is reminding the public to beware and consider taking simple precautions that could help safeguard their vehicles from this and other types of crime.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public to remain vigilant as investigators have seen a spike in thefts from distracted shoppers.  

Recent investigations show an increase in wallets and personal property being taken from purses while unsuspecting victims are distracted.  In most cases, victims are followed through a store until the theft opportunity presents itself.
