Residents have an opportunity to participate in the next free Community Emergency Preparedness Academy (CEPA) that begins on March 5.

CEPA is a collaborative effort between the City of Mission Viejo, Orange County Fire Authority, Sheriff's Department, Care Ambulance and other emergency response agencies. The program takes place Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30-9:30 p.m. through March 28.

Residents will have the chance to provide input regarding how the City can improve its bicycling experience during two meetings this month. On Monday, February 11, City staff will present the proposed Mission Viejo Comprehensive Bikeway and Transportation Connectivity Master Plan during the Planning and Transportation Commission's meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. That meeting will be followed by the Community Services Commission's meeting at 6 p.m. on February 19.

A strong storm system is expected to move through Southern California this weekend, bringing heavy rainfall in the region through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas of Orange County. 

The City of Mission Viejo is developing a Bikeway Master Plan to improve the cycling experience in our community. We are in the process of gathering information to understand current cycling trends and preferences in town. 

Residents recently took part in the City's first Family Fun Bike Fair January 26 at the Norman P. Murray Community Center. Along with a free bike rodeo, the event included interactive booths, activities and the chance to provide input on the City's Bikeway Master Plan. 

To help Mission Viejo residents and businesses dispose of sensitive documents like tax records, bank statements and legal documents safely and securely, Waste Management is hosting four document shredding events this year, with the first set for Saturday, February 2 at Mission Viejo High School.

Bring up to 10 bags or boxes of sensitive materials to drop off in the school parking lot at 25025 Chrisanta Drive from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Binders and notebooks will not be accepted.
