Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony
The City will host a Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 25. The ceremony will air at 8:30 am on MVTV (Cox Channel 30 and AT&T Channel 99) with additional programming throughout the day. The program will also be featured on the City's YouTube channel.
Don't forget to download the program before the ceremony!
Marine Corps Colonel Chisteon Griffin with Headquarters Battalion, Camp Pendleton will serve as the keynote speaker, accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel John Bleigh, a Special Forces Commander with the U.S. Army and local resident. The ceremony will also feature a special message from Sergeant Major Scifo, Battalion Sergeant Major, and Gayle Wood, Chairperson for the Marine and Sailors Adoption Committee.
In addition to the online ceremony, the City is hosting a Drive-Through American Heroes Tribute to maintain social distancing May 11-28 in the courtyard at 200 Civic Center. The 3-foot by 9-foot banners pay homage to American soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Local heroes are memorialized with a banner, and the community is encouraged to visit the tribute.
