2018 OCFA Firefighter of the Year is Kyle Tenney

Kyle Tenney

Kyle Tenney has been named the Orange County Fire Authority’s 2018 Firefighter of the Year.

He is a firefighter and paramedic who exemplifies the meaning of “the best and bravest” and is always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, said Fire Captain Greg Barta.

Based at Station 31 off Olympiad, Kyle fights fires and performs emergency medical services to Mission Viejo residents and visitors. He’s known as a “top performer” who displays outstanding public service and innovation. In fact, over the last year alone, Kyle has been responsible for the creation, enhancements and testing of emergency medical forms, devices, technology and software to better care for the citizens of Mission Viejo and beyond.

Kyle assisted with the implementation of a department-wide technology project as well as a resident medical information form and various emergency medical service projects, essentially helping OCFA crews to provide more effective and efficient patient care.

If that weren’t enough, this dedicated firefighter has guided multiple paramedic students over the last year and mentored potential medical school candidates. Outside of work, Kyle has volunteered his time as an adjunct instructor for the Saddleback College paramedic program.

“Firefighter Tenney sets a great example for all of us to follow on a daily basis,” Barta said. “His strong work ethic and commitment to the department set him apart. For all these reasons and more, Firefighter Tenney deserves the recognition as OCFA’s Battalion 7 Firefighter of the Year.”
