3rd Annual Día de los Muertos Fiesta Oct. 26

dia de los muertos

The Mission Viejo Activities Committee invites the community to a special Día de los Muertos Fiesta (Day of the Dead) at the Norman P. Murray Center on Saturday, October 26 from 1 to 7 pm.

The festivities will provide the chance to explore the educational and cultural significance of Day of the Dead traditions. Enjoy live Mariachi music, Folklorico Dance, sugar skull decorating, face painting, and arts and crafts. You can also bring a photo of a loved one or pet that passed too soon to add to our special Ofrenda (memorial altar).

Patrons are also invited to enter the Ofrenda and Catrina Contests:

Ofrenda Contest:

Create a personalized memorial altar to honor someone dear to you. The deadline to enter is October 20 at 5 pm and costs $5 for the public. Businesses and nonprofit organizations cost $25.

Catrina Contest:

Show off your costume creativity! The winner receives a cash prize and certificate signed by Mayor Trish Kelley. There is no cost to enter. Enter by October 22 at 5 pm.

Admission to the fiesta is free. Authentic food, beverages, beer, and wine will be available for purchase.

View the schedule of activities at mvactivities.com. For more information, contact 949-830-7066 or mvac@cityofmissionviejo.org.
