If you have a passion for art and penchant for fun, then register today for some innovative and exciting art classes at the Potocki Center, 27301 La Paz Road.

QiGong:  Wellness for Body and Mind with Cynthia Niermann

Qigong, the source of Tai Chi, is a gentle exercise system to increase and maintain strength, flexibility and balance.  Shorter routines are said to provide effective stress relief as well. This hour-long program is at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays November 2-30. It is open to people 16 and older. Cost is $30. 

Glass Fusion Ornaments with Caroline Verhagen

Learn basic techniques of cutting and layering colorful pieces of glass that are fused in the instructor’s studio kiln, creating ornaments of beautiful fused art. This class is from 9 a.m. to noon on November 12. It is open to people 10 and older with kids 12 & under accompanied by an enrolled parent. Cost is $40 plus a $20 lab fee that is payable to the instructor. 

Acting for Kids and Teens with April Sayegh

This group class will introduce new students to stage acting, while developing the skills of more advanced students.  Our workshops will include improvisation, monologues and scenes. Kids ages 8-15 will enjoy this hour-long class every Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Cost is $50 per month. 

Inkchanted Calligraphy with Kristen Khan

Learn the fundamental techniques of the art of calligraphy with nib and ink.  This class will prepare you for future courses developing your own style. It takes place every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. November 3-17.  The program caters to age 12 and older. Cost is $150 plus a $10 lab fee payable to the instructor. 

Artistic photo Alteration with Jacki Long

Bring your color photos to alter and explore artistic techniques using mixed media.  You’ll take home a variety of uniquely changed photos.  Supplies are provided except for photos. This program is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, November 5. Cost is $55 plus a $15 lab fee payable to the instructor. 

Understanding Your Camera Workshop with George Katzenberger

This hands-on workshop ends the confusion about your own camera’s menus.  Learn to shoot photographs and not snapshots.  The course covers focusing, flash, ISO and more.  Bring your charged camera and manual. The program is from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on November 5. Cost is $50. 

iPhone Photography with George Katzenberger

Learn everything you need to know to maximize your iPhone photos and videos including how to use focus, exposure, flash, HDR, panorama, accessories and apps. The program is from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on November 12. Cost is $45. 

Digital Photography 102 with George Katzenberger

Learn how to shoot awesome photographs using your own camera and the tools of composition, perspective, color and light.  Storytelling and creating moods will be covered. This class takes place every Monday  from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. November 7-28. It caters to ages 14 and older. Cost is $60. 

2-Day Pottery Workshop with Valerie Gutierrez

Sign up your group of 6-10 and have fun “getting muddy,” as you create and glaze your own wheel-thrown and hand-built unique pieces of ceramic art. This workshop is open to all ages and kids 9 and younger must be accompanied by an enrolled adult.  The program takes place Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. November 3-17. Cost is $30 plus a $10 lab fee payable to the instructor. 

Ceramic Ornament Workshop with Valerie Gutierrez

Make artistic and fun holiday ornaments out of ceramic clay and return to glaze them with bright shiny colors, just in time for the holidays. This workshop is at noon-2:30 p.m. on Saturdays, November 12 and November 19. It caters to ages 5 and older and children 9 and younger must be accompanied by an enrolled adult.  Cost is $25. 

Uncork your Painting Potential with Renee Keady

Guided by a professional artist, this class will help you create a painting and take it home at the end of the night.  It can be your own interpretation or one that closely resembles the inspiration piece.  No experience is necessary to enjoy this program that is open to people 21 and older. Cost is $30 plus a $10 lab fee payable to the instructor.

Mandala Art In the Morning With Renee Keady

Learn the art of the Mandala and create a series of concentric circles and patterns to create a balance of visual elements symbolizing unity and harmony. This course is open to all ages and takes place on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cost is $15.

Mandala Art in the Evening: Wine-Dalas With Renee Keady

Learn the art of the mandala, a spiritual symbol in Indian religions that represents the universe.  It is a diagram, chart or geometric pattern using pattern and line.  This class will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 6:30-8:30 p.m., and is for people ages 21 and older. Cost is $20. 

Art Experience Birthday Party With Renee Keady

Forget the party favors!  Each guest will take home a wonderful masterpiece.  You provide the cake, drinks and serving items and we will provide the fun!

Ages 5-7, 8-10, 11-14 and adults

Cost is $180 for 3 hours and up to eight guests (each additional guest is $25).
