Captain Hawkins supervises firefighters and fire apparatus engineers, trains a fire crew to fight fires efficiently and safely and supervises firefighters engaged in fighting structural, wildland and other fires. He supervises and participates in a wide range of emergency and rescue activities.

Assigned to Truck 9, Captain Hawkins leads a technical rescue truck in the City. This is a demanding position requiring significant, ongoing training. He has coordinated multiple battalion and department-level training units from Mission Viejo, Urban Search and Rescue and HazMat teams.
