Captain Chuck Hawkins is OCFA Employee of the Year
Fire Captain Chuck Hawkins has been named Orange County Fire Authority's Employee of the Year for Mission Viejo.
Captain Hawkins supervises firefighters and fire apparatus engineers, trains a fire crew to fight fires efficiently and safely and supervises firefighters engaged in fighting structural, wildland and other fires. He supervises and participates in a wide range of emergency and rescue activities.
Assigned to Truck 9, Captain Hawkins leads a technical rescue truck in the City. This is a demanding position requiring significant, ongoing training. He has coordinated multiple battalion and department-level training units from Mission Viejo, Urban Search and Rescue and HazMat teams.
In addition to his demanding duties, Captain Hawkins is an instructor and mentor for different programs and gives back by volunteering at community events including station tours and school programs.
"Captain Hawkins is the ideal employee "¦ he is a jack of all trades who makes time for those that request his help," said Battalion Chief Todd Downing. "Captain Hawkins has made a tremendous impact mentoring the next generation of leaders and firefighters of our agency."
