Celebrate the Rainforest Bear with free musical, educational program Jan. 14

rainforest bear

Mark your calendar for a special tribute on January 14 to the Rainforest Bear with a musical performance of "Latin Fire and Romance on a Harp" at the Norman P. Murray Center.

The performance is from 4 to 6 pm at 24932 Veterans Way.

Currently nestled at the Potocki Center for the Arts, the Rainforest Bear will soon be relocated to the beautiful Oso Creek Golf Course. The design of the Rainforest mosaic bear highlights the beauty and importance of the world’s rainforests – specifically representing the Amazon rainforest in South America.

To tie-in the bear’s South American roots, the City is hosting this free musical performance featuring international harpist Alfredo Rolando Ortiz. He will delight the audience with traditional, classical, and popular Latin American compositions on the harp from 4 to 6 pm on Saturday, January 14.

Ortiz is a renowned soloist of the Paraguayan harp, composer, author, educator and recording artist. He weaves fascinating cultural commentaries about the music and his life experiences throughout his performances that are bound to mesmerize you.
