The Planning and Transportation Commission on January 10 will continue discussion of a proposed 5G plan by Dish Wireless to install a new wireless telecommunication facility on an existing Santa Margarita Water District (SMWD) water tank at 28871.5 Woodcreek. Proposed access to the facility is through Canyon Estates HOA property, the single-family neighborhood near Olympiad and Alicia Parkway.

Dish Wireless gave a presentation about the project to the Canyon Estates HOA board on Wednesday.

5G is the 5th generation mobile network being rolled out by wireless carriers. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks.  In Mission Viejo, the proposed wireless facility would include six antennas and 12 remote radio heads with related equipment installed at-grade next to the water tank.

Residents are encouraged to attend the January 10 meeting to provide input and learn more about the proposed project. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.
