City seeking photos of fallen heroes for our Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony
To honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms, the City is seeking photos of fallen soldiers for our Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 25.
During the ceremony, the photographs of our fallen heroes will be displayed. Complete our submission form and submit your photos of family members who died while serving our country by Wednesday, May 20.
The Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony will air at 8:30 am on MVTV (Cox Channel 30 and AT&T Channel 99) with additional programming throughout the day. The program will also be featured on the City’s YouTube channel.
Marine Corps Colonel Christeon Griffin will serve as the keynote speaker, accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel John Bleigh, a Special Forces Commander with the U.S. Army and local resident.
In addition to the online ceremony, the City will host a Drive-Through American Heroes Tribute to maintain social distancing May 11-28 in the courtyard at 200 Civic Center. The 3-foot by 9-foot banners pay homage to American soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Local heroes are memorialized with a banner.
