Council to recognize Little League Challenger team and consider buying an EV fleet vehicle
The City Council on Tuesday, September 24 will recognize the Little League District 68 Challenger team and adopted Marines for outstanding efforts as well as consider purchasing an electric vehicle (EV) fleet truck.
The business part of the meeting starts at 6 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.
The Council will recognize the Little League District 68 Challenger team from Mission Viejo after the team’s trip to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to compete in the 2024 Challenger Division Exhibition Game. Since 2001, the Little League Challenger Exhibition Game has been a memorable part of the Championship Weekend experience at the Little League Baseball World Series. The City filmed a wonderful MVTV News report about the athletes and their once-in-a-lifetime experience.
In addition, the Council will present certificates of commendation to members of the City’s adopted Headquarters Battalion of the 1st Marine Division for their outstanding efforts. Lance Corporal Andrew T. Dodd will be recognized as “Marine of the Quarter” and Sergeant Ysabel A. Bautista as "Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter."
In other news, the Council will consider the purchase of an EV fleet truck for the Public Services department. This is the first EV maintenance pickup truck that would be added to the City’s fleet. EVs have zero tailpipe emissions and can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which can improve local air quality.
Meetings are streamed live on the City’s website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
