Don't miss 'Guitarmania to Beatlemania' this Sunday, July 28
If you want a fascinating afternoon of history and music, head to the Mission Viejo Civic Center at 2 pm on Sunday, July 28 for Lord of the Strings' "Guitarmania to Beatlemania."
In the period since Andres Segovia cemented the guitar's role in the world of concert halls, many associate the term classical guitar with generally a Spanish-style instrument. The guitar is iconic and ubiquitous in popular music; however, the true light of its history and repertoire largely remains hidden.
Led by the talented Laurence Juber, this presentation gives an illustrated history of the acoustic guitar and its role in music history by examining the instrument's golden eras of the 19th and 20th centuries and the journeys of its creators, practitioners and luthiers.
Using contemporary and historical examples, Laurence will delight guests with performance pieces and entertaining demonstrations of guitar techniques and concepts.
Doors open at 1:30 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center. Tickets are $20 and are available at the door. For more information, call 949-470-8440.
