DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint planned in Mission Viejo this weekend

car keys and glass of alcohol

The Orange County Sheriff’s DUI Enforcement Team will host a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint in Mission Viejo from 7 p.m. Friday, March 9 to 3 a.m. Saturday, March 10.

High-visibility enforcement using DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols helps reduce the number of people killed and injured in alcohol- or drug-impaired crashes.

Officers will look for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment. When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate people suspected of drug-impaired driving, which now accounts for a growing number of crashes.

Motorists are encouraged to download the Designated Driver VIP free mobile app for Android or iPhone. The DDVIP app helps find nearby bars and restaurants that feature free incentives for the designated sober driver. The app also has a tab for calling Uber, Lyft or Curb.

Report drunk drivers by calling 9-1-1.
