Expanded services for veterans, U.S. service members available at Norman Murray Center
In an effort to better serve local veterans and members of the armed forces, the City of Mission has expanded veteran services at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.
Individuals can now learn about benefits and other services with a VA representative on the second Wednesday of the month beginning April 12. Appointments are available between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. by calling 949-470-3062.
Veterans claims counseling will begin on May 1 and continue the first Monday of every month. This counseling will help folks with pre-claim interviews, connected disability processing and non-service connected pensions as well as follow-up services for submission and resolution. Counseling will be available by appointment between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. by calling 949-470-3062. Services are offered by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9934.
In addition to those services, free legal services from the Veterans Legal Institute- Pro Bono Law Firm will be offered on April 27 and June 15 by appointment from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Attorney Antoinette Balta will provide pro bono legal services to current and former U.S. service members who are homeless, disabled or have low incomes.
