Free compost giveaway Saturday, April 13
Free compost is available for Mission Viejo residents in the parking lot of the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, while supplies last.
Composting is the recycling of organic materials back into a valuable soil product that may be used in gardens or on potted plants - which can save you money, time and reduce your garden's watering and weeding needs. It also benefits the environment by recycling vital organic resources and extending the life of our landfills. This compost is a rich, organic soil amendment which consists of composted, recycled green waste that has been collected as part of the City's residential recycling program.
As a component of the celebration of Earth Day, the City's trash hauler Waste Management of Orange County and green waste processor Tierra Verde Industries are donating the compost.
This is a self-service event, so in order to pick up the compost please bring a shovel and container to the Animal Services Center located at 28095 Hillcrest. Quantities are limited and each person will be allotted up to 36 gallons of compost. For more information, call 949-470-3010.
