Free sports opportunities, perks for youth this Saturday in honor of National Youth Sports Day

In honor of National Youth Sports Day Saturday, November 13, the City is celebrating the designation by sharing community sports opportunities and some great perks for youth 17 and younger.   

National Youth Sports Day (NYSD) promotes the importance and benefits of youth sports – most critically to help achieve the nation’s health and well-being goals.   

On Saturday, youth can take advantage of the following special offers: 

Montanoso Recreation & Fitness Center: 

  • Free day pass for non-members to play basketball, tennis or swim 
  • All youth will receive a free towel while supplies last 

Sierra Recreation & Fitness Center: 

  • Free day pass for non-members to play basketball, tennis, pickleball or swim 
  • All youth will receive a free towel while supplies last 

Marguerite Tennis Pavilion 

  • Join Head Tennis Pro Ryan Hill and other staff for a free tennis clinic in partnership with Acing Autism from 10:30-11:30 am.  Fun games and pizza provided. Register by calling 949-470-8429. 

Check out these other youth sports opportunities offered by the City and partnering organizations:

TinyTykes Youth Soccer 

For ages 4-5, TinyTykes is an innovative program created by childcare specialists that introduces children to the basic skills of soccer. Kids enjoy fundamental soccer activities, games, and stories to develop their skills.  

Masters of the Field 

For kids ages 6-12, this outdoor program gives students the opportunity to participate in exciting outdoor games where they compete in fun, strategic and academic activities. Kids enjoy popular sports and outdoor games and activities and unique strategy games paired with academic puzzles for teams to solve. This program helps students gain academic knowledge; confidence; teamwork skills; and encourages sportsmanship; and promotes an active lifestyle. 

Soccer & Speed Training 

Youth ages 6-12 learn to defend and attack; long- and short-range passing; ground and aerial control; speed and agility; strength and core; first-step quickness and so much more. Participants receive leadership, youth personal development and nutritional education homework activities to complete. 

Basketball Skills 

Youth 8-13 learn shooting mechanics; one-on-one moves; playing defense; ball handling; passing; guard footwork; big man footwork; quick feet and hands; explosive first step; improved balance and stability; increased vertical leap; agility and speed training; fitness circuits; and team building.
