Free tax preparation services available for qualified individuals
The Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is offering free tax preparation services for qualified individuals for tax year 2023.
Catering to folks with a household income less than $80,000, appointments take place between 9:30 am and 5 pm on Thursdays. Priority registration for residents living in zip codes 92691 and 92692 began on January 16. Non-Mission Viejo residents can schedule appointments beginning February 12.
To schedule an appointment, the following is required:
- Physical copies of all required tax documents needed for the return.
- A household income of $80,000 or less.
- Photocopies of Social Security card and a picture ID.
- Original or photocopies of tax forms.
This is a drop-and-go process that requires clients to pre-package all required documentation and submit it to the client facilitator at your appointment. You will be contacted upon completion of your return within one to two weeks. Both federal and state income taxes will be filed electronically, and 2023 and 2022 tax returns can be prepared. The service takes place through April 4.
