Girl Scouts donate more than $700 worth of food, items for homeless animals

The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center is praising the efforts of two local Girl Scouts who donated more than $700 worth of food and items for the animals this week.

Kyndle Winchester and Gianna Cara of Girl Scout Troop 2175 set out to make a difference in the lives of the animals awaiting new homes. So, they took a list of needed items from the shelter and created a shopping list for shoppers heading into Stater Brothers and Walmart.  With the support of a few fellow Girl Scouts, these Laguna Niguel residents set up tables outside of the stores and explained how every donation would benefit the animals. Along with much-needed dog and cat food, the girls collected toys, training pads, leashes and paper towels.

“The girls said the people who donated the items were extremely willing to help the animals at our shelter,” said Volunteer Coordinator Giselle Leal. “When the girls dropped off the donations, it was their first visit to the center and they were impressed and happy they did this for the homeless animals here.”
