Girls' Tennis Classic takes place Oct. 26-28
Tennis enthusiasts from across Southern California will flock to the Marguerite Tennis Pavilion October 26-28 for the first Girls' Junior Tennis Classic - The Marguerite.
After several years without a female comparable tournament to Ojai, the oldest boys' amateur tournament in the United States, The Marguerite will feature 32 singles and 16 doubles teams comprised of girls ages 14-19.
Dave Borelli, a Tennis Hall of Famer, will lead the tournament with UT-RGV Hall of Famer A.G. Longoria. With extensive tournament experience in open, collegiate and professional events, the pair teamed up to create a girls' junior event to give young women the same opportunities and exposure as their male counterparts get from the Ojai tournament.
Singles players can apply for an invitation to the 32 singles draw and 16 doubles draw. The tournament will determine the best players and teams using UTR (Universal Tennis Rating). The first round of singles begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, with doubles starting after 1 p.m. on Friday, October 27. The semifinals and finals follow.
Entry deadline is October 20. Admission is free, so mark your calendar for this exciting event.
