Guitar greats to rock Mission Viejo stage Oct. 6

Get ready for an astounding performance by two world-renowned guitarists on Saturday, October 6.

Lord of the Strings presents guitar greats Brent Mason and Richard Smith at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Mission Viejo Civic Center.

Brent Mason is one of the most recorded guitarists in history. He is a Grammy Award winner; 12-time winner of the Academy of Country Music Guitarist of the Year Award; and a two-time winner of the CMA Award Musician of the Year. He has been named as one of the top 10 session guitarists in the world, joining the ranks of Jimmy Page, Larry Carlton, Tommy Tedesco and Steve Cropper. Brent has played on more than a thousand albums and has been credited with playing on 1,782 hit singles. He also released two of his own albums, produced several artists and holds credits as a songwriter.

From Bach to Beatles, barn-burners to ballads like no one you've ever seen, world-renowned fingerstyle guitarist Richard Smith continues to entertain audiences near and far! With fretboard fireworks and lyrical endeavors, he will melt your heartstrings, make your toes tap and leave your jaw hanging.  Richard's ever-growing repertoire comprises a wide array of music from classical to pop.  His music includes Scott Joplin Rags like Sousa marches, Chopin, Mozart and fiddle tunes. It ranges from jazz standards to Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed to Django Reinhardt gypsy swing.  He delivers lightning fast barn-burners and beautiful ballads, occasionally spiced with astounding vocals.
