Guitar guru Richard Smith to take the Mission Viejo stage Nov. 19

Award-winning guitarist Richard Smith will take the Mission Viejo stage on November 19. 

The Lord of the Strings production begins at 7 pm in the City Hall Council Chamber, 200 Civic Center. 

Born in England and based in Nashville, Tennessee, Smith has received many accolades for his music. He won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas in 2001. Seven years later in 2008 and again in 2021, the National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame named him Thumbpicker of the Year; and he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009. Smith also received the Golden Thumbpick Award by the Association of Fingerstyle Guitarists. 

Smith’s repertoire includes country, bluegrass, blues, ragtime, folk, jazz, pop, and classical music.
