Join the City of Mission Viejo to honor the service and sacrifice of our service men and women during a special Memorial Day ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 28 at the Mission Viejo Civic Center, 200 Civic Center.

Petty Officer First Class Edward Smith will serve as the keynote speaker, discussing the importance of remembering the people who died while serving in our country's armed forces. He will be joined by Vietnam veteran Frank Pangborn, an author, actor, musician and Orange County Native.

The Memorial Day ceremony will include a color guard; rifle salute; and Taps as well as famed singer Dawn Wright performing the National Anthem. Coffee and light refreshments will be served after the ceremony and folks will have a chance to view the American Heroes Tribute Banners in the civic center courtyard. The 3-foot by 9-foot banners pay homage to American soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Mission Viejo Television will also stream the event for those that cannot make it out in person. Visit https://cityofmissionviejo.org/stream from a computer beginning at 8:30 a.m. to witness the ceremony live.
