'Miracle on 34th Street' is December's free Film of Character
Enjoy the classic holiday film "Miracle on 34th Street" on Sunday, December 17 at Mission Viejo City Hall as part of a free movie series sponsored by the City's Community of Character Committee.
The movie event begins at 2 p.m. and highlights "caring," Mission Viejo's character quality for the month of December.
This timeless film, starring Maureen O'Hara, Edmund Gwenn and 8-year old Natalie Wood, tells the story of a department store Santa named Kris Kringle who believes he's really Santa Claus. The movie garnered Best Supporting Actor for Gwenn and Best Screenplay for its delightful script.
A heartwarming celebration of the Christmas spirit, the movie ranks 9th on the American Film Institute's list of 100 Most Inspiring Films.
The film will be shown on a theater-size screen with theater-style seating and surround-sound at 200 Civic Center, just across from the Mission Viejo Library. A brief discussion follows the screening.
