Mission Viejo having banner year in facilitating Eagle Scout projects
The City of Mission Viejo’s Public Services Department is having a banner year with facilitating Eagle Scout projects designed to benefit our environment.
In fact, so far this year, 25 Boy Scouts have completed projects. Another 19 scouts are on par through December. By year’s end, nearly 50 scouts will have attained or will be on their way to achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle. This is the most projects in one year on record for the City, which has been working with local scouts for the last 15-plus years.
Throughout the City, the scouts’ efforts have included multiple landscape and planting projects along with painting and fence installations. Each project helps keep our community attractive; saves the City thousands of dollars in labor; and puts these future leaders in line for the highest scouting rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America. It’s said that only 5 percent of all scouts achieve this rank, and the City is grateful for having a hand in helping these scouts to soar with Eagles.
