Mission Viejo to host inaugural Wheelchair/Adaptive Sports Tennis Clinic & Festival Sept. 9
The City of Mission Viejo will host its inaugural Wheelchair/Adaptive Sports Tennis Clinic and Festival on Sunday, September 9 at the Marguerite Tennis Pavilion.
Partnering with Angel City Sports and the Southern California Tennis Association, the City will provide free daylong clinics and tennis play for both wheelchair and adaptive tennis players.
The clinic caters to people of all ages with any physical difference or mobility impairment, seated or ambulatory. The Tennis Pavilion opens at 9:30 a.m. with top-level coaches leading clinic instruction from 10 a.m. to noon before a complimentary lunch is provided. Tennis play follows until 3 p.m. Sports wheelchairs and tennis racquets will be provided based on availability. Along with lunch, participants, coaches and volunteers will receive gift bags.
"The City is excited to launch its SNAP (Special Needs Adaptive Programming) initiative this fall with enhancements to programs and special events throughout the City and is proud to bring attention to the need for Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports in Orange County," said Community Services Supervisor Dave Borelli.
This first-time event complements the City's proud tradition of hosting junior wheelchair tennis camps and the prestigious UNIQUO Wheelchair Doubles Masters series.
