New exhibit focuses on mental health awareness

art exhibit

A vibrant new exhibit is on display at the Norman P. Murray Center in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Presented by the Council on Aging - Southern California, "My Colors. My Mind" features paintings and drawings created by students in art therapy classes for senior citizens. In partnership with the OC Health Care Agency, the Council on Aging provides no-cost classes that encourage older adults to explore emotions, reduce stress and anxiety, improve self-esteem, and build awareness to reduce stigma surrounding overall mental health. The artwork on display includes landscapes, still life, and collaborative abstract pieces that express the artists' vision, experiences, and stories.

"My Colors. My Mind" will run through early June.

Don't miss another art exhibit on the theme of mental health awareness, "The Art of Well-being," which runs through May 31 at the Potocki Center for the Arts.
