Next phase of median rehabilitation project set to begin
The City of Mission Viejo is set to begin the next phase of the Marguerite Parkway median island renovations – a project that will save the city thousands of gallons of water per year.
The water-conservation project begins the week of July 24 on Marguerite Parkway between Alarcon and Santa Margarita Parkway.
Like previous phases along Marguerite, the turf grass and old plant material will be replaced with a drought-tolerant, water-thrifty plant pallet. New water-efficient point source drip irrigation controlled by weather-sensitive SMART irrigation timers will take the place of outdated spray-head irrigation systems.
Construction will continue through fall. The lion’s share of the project is funded by water-conservation grant money.
