Patriot Day – Never Forget 9/11 gathering

""

The City of Mission Viejo on September 11 will host a simple flag-holding and candlelight gathering to honor the men, women and children who lost their lives and the heroes who responded to the catastrophic events of 9/11.

The gathering is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the intersection of La Paz Road and Marguerite Parkway.

The evening will include a welcome by Mayor Wendy Bucknum, brief comments from a first responder, the Pledge of Allegiance led by local scouts and the singing of “God Bless America.” Flags and candles will be handed out for residents who will proudly display them at all four corners of the intersection. In reflecting on that tragic day, people will have the chance to jot down memories and heartfelt messages.

Parking is available at City Hall, 200 Civic Center. For more information, call 949-470-3061.
