Mission Viejo’s pickleball popularity continues to grow
The Felipe Tennis & Recreation Center is currently ranked at 258 out of more than 4,200 clubs nationwide on Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR). DUPR is the only global rating system in pickleball that rates all players on the same universal scale regardless of age or gender.
DUPR hosts more than 4,000 pickleball clubs across the United States and is the number one ranking system for pickleball play. The City of Mission Viejo offers DUPR score entry for its advanced leagues and club tournaments, but members can also submit scores and games on their own to receive a ranking.
Pickleball, which is a combination of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, has been extremely popular in Mission Viejo and across the country. In fact, last year, the Sports & Fitness Industry Association deemed it the fastest-growing sport in America for the third consecutive year. The association estimates that about 36.5 million people have played the game at least once in the year.
If you play at the Felipe Tennis and Recreation Center, you can join the City’s online DUPR club at https://dashboard.dupr.com/dashboard/browse/clubs/4515920607.
