Pickleball Social Set for Saturday, February 17
Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 17 when the City hosts its third Pickleball Round Robin Doubles Social at the Sierra Recreation Center, 26887 Recodo Lane.
Pickleball is a popular paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. In true round-robin format, participants will play four 30-minute matches (partners are not required). Medals will be awarded for first and second place in each of the eight divisions: Men’s 2.0; Men’s 2.5; Men’s 3.0; Men’s 3.5; Women’s 2.0; Women’s 2.5; Women’s 3.0; and Women’s 3.5.
Player check-in starts at 9 a.m. for 2.0-2.5 divisions with matches beginning by 9:30 a.m. For the 3.0-3.5 divisions, check-in begins at 11 a.m. with matches starting a half hour later. After the matches, participants will enjoy socializing and a pizza luncheon.
If you want to brush up on your skills before the social, head to the Sierra Recreation Center on the first Saturday of the month at 4 p.m. for a free 2-hour pickleball demonstration event. The first hour focuses on instruction with the second hour open for free play. This is a great opportunity for learning about and enjoying America’s fastest-growing sport.
