‘Pitch In’ for children in need

Baseball and glove

Do you have old youth baseball or softball equipment lying around your home collecting dust? If so, consider donating it for a good cause.

Mission Viejo’s District 68 Little League is now accepting donations of gently used baseball or softball equipment to help support Pitch In For Baseball, a nonprofit organization that provides baseball and softball equipment to needy children in the United States and around the world. This equipment drive will help families in areas devastated by fire, floods and mudslides here in California and across the United States.

The four Mission Viejo leagues (Rancho Mission Viejo, North, South and Viejo Little Leagues) along with other leagues including San Clemente, Trabuco Canyon, San Juan Capistrano, Rancho Santa Margarita and Ladera Ranch are participating in the collection.

All equipment is accepted; however, the most needed items are:

  • Gloves (RH/LH)
  • Catcher’s mitt
  • BBCOR bats
  • Catcher’s gear

Equipment drop-off is at the league snack bars and All Star Pizza from April 20 to May 4:

  • Curtis Park, 24460 Olympiad Rd.
  • Gilleran Park, 24960 Felipe Rd.
  • Marty Russo Youth Athletic Park, 22056 Olympiad Rd.
  • All Star Pizza, 22902 Los Alisos Blvd.

If you do not have equipment and want to support the cause, you can make a monetary donation at https://www.classy.org/team/168121. For more information, see this flyer or contact Michele Cole at michelecoled68@gmail.com.
