Recap of this week’s City Council meeting
The City Council on Tuesday discussed the Fiscal Year 2023-25 proposed budget and is expected to adopt the budget at the June 27 meeting.
The proposed budget is a $194.6 million two-year package of services, programs, and projects for the benefit of Mission Viejo residents and businesses. The budget maintains all essential service levels and programs that are important to the community and provides for $18.6 million in funding for capital improvements. The development of the 2023-25 proposed budget was guided by a continued focus on the City’s organizational values and strategic goals and is balanced while maintaining healthy discretionary reserves of $35.3 million.
Council Members also approved renewing the agreements with the cities of Aliso Viejo and Laguna Niguel to continue providing animal services to those communities.
In the presentation portion of the meeting, the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) gave an update on upcoming public scoping meetings beginning July 26 regarding the project for El Toro Road and the I-5 on/off ramps.
In addition, Council Members received a presentation about the City of Hope Orange County and the cancer care it provides for residents.
