Save the date for special author storytime April 23
Make plans for a special author storytime for all ages on Saturday, April 23 in Mission Viejo. Local author Alexandra Katona will present her picture book "Dinner on Domingos" and discuss her writing career during this free event that starts at 11 am in The Kershaw Garden at 200 Civic Center.
"Dinner on Domingos," published by Barefoot Books, is a delightful celebration of family and food. It focuses on the warm memories that wash over a first-generation Latinx American girl as she visits her Abuelita for Sunday night dinner. Readers are immersed in the rich ways love is expressed in this home, especially the delicious Ecuadorian cooking. As Alejandra thinks about all the good times her family has had there, she decides she wants to be brave and try speaking Spanish with Abuelita so that they can deepen their bond. Based on the author's life, this timely tale reflects the experience of many families.
Copies of "Dinner on Domingos" will be available at the event for purchase and signing.
Registration is not required. Seating will be available, and families are welcome to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets. The Kershaw Garden is nestled between the library and City Hall. The area is wheelchair accessible.
